Areas of Development in Childhood:
Physical: size, large and small muscle coordination, health, appearance, puberty. Determines abilities, attitudes towards self and others
Mental: organizing facts, memory, conservation, reversibility, cause and effect, concrete to abstract thinking, problem solving, independent thinking
Moral and Spiritual: moving from selfishness to concern for rights of others; from rules-centered to social-order-centered judgment; developing moral values through choices
Emotional: competence, security, love and belongingness, self-esteem, self-fulfillment
Social: dependence to independence to interdependence
