If I had to choose a single word to describe the purpose of Sunday School, I would select Ministry. Meeting people’s needs is at the center of everything we do as a Sunday School. While we emphasize spiritual needs (because the spiritual is our unique capability), we address other important needs, such as physical, social, relational, emotional, and economic, as well..
My favorite logo for Sunday School work summarizes our purpose as Better Bible Teaching for More People. We won’t go far wrong if we keep that thrust in mind for everything we do through the Sunday School. It emphasizes the need for excellence in our teaching as well as for diligence in our reaching.
