How We’ll Get There
The deacon in an adult class works with the teacher to assign members to care groups and enlist care group leaders.
Goal: Contact every member every week
(Note: benevolence ministry is conducted through the Sunday School class)
Notes:
The Care Group Ministry supports the Deacon Family Ministry to keep in touch with each Sunday School member, bring their prayer concerns to the class each week, and remind them that the class cares for them.
The Pastor can’t visit every member; each Deacon is responsible for an average of 60 families. The only effective way to minister to our members is by multiplying their ministries through the Care Group Leaders.
Benevolence Ministry (such as providing meals in case of hospitalization or death in the family) is best provided by class members who know the person involved and can respond to fellowship needs as well as physical needs. The class Deacon coordinates this ministry, and can draw on help from other classes if necessary.
Note the Deacon for the adult class is also responsible for the children of those in his class, as well as the In-Service Members.
