One of the things Jesus talked about a lot was how important it is that we forgive other people. This Sunday, as we learn more about how we can live like Jesus, we’ll be talking about how Jesus forgave a paralyzed man first, and only then showed that He had the power to forgive sins by also telling the man to “take up your mat and walk!”
Doctors tell us that, many times, sickness may come from “holding a grudge,” which means not forgiving other people and wanting to get even with them. We can always choose to forgive others; if we don’t, we can’t have good relationships with God or with other people. We will probably go around with a grumpy attitude which will drive people away, and perhaps have trouble sleeping. And it may cause us to get sick in several different ways.
So forgiving others is really important! God will forgive us of all the sins we have done against Him, and we need to choose to forgive others in the same way.
James and his friend Rebecca will be telling our story this Sunday, about four friends who took their friend to see Jesus — and tore up a roof to do it! This would be a great Sunday for you to bring a friend with you, too. We’ll be hearing some more of the Sunday School Charlie story, too—Charlie will need to learn how to forgive as well.
See you Sunday!
Tom and Sydney Cook
