This Sunday we will finish our lessons on prayer as we learn about Hannah, an Old Testament woman who really, really wanted a son. She was very sad because she had no children. While her husband Elkanah was kind to her, his other wife teased her and made her cry.
Hannah went to the tabernacle at Shiloh and prayed that God would give her a son. God answered her prayer, and He has promised to give us the things we need as well…and He has even promised to give us some of the things we want (but don’t necessarily need). The Bible speaks of God’s giving us “the desires of our heart,” mainly when we love God so much that what we desire is the same as what He desires for us (which, after all, is always what’s best for us).
Remember that we will be making gifts for our fathers this Sunday! We’re sorry that we could not be with you last Sunday—we missed you. But hopefully your fathers won’t mind waiting a little for the great gift you will give them.
Also, the treasure chest will be back for you on July 1 — so keep memorizing those verses!
See you Sunday—and bring a friend!
Tom and Sydney Cook
