Often it is hard to do the right things, the things that please God. But we know that these things are the best for us, and that choosing right will let us have the best possible lives.
This Sunday we will be learning about the very beginning of Jesus’ ministry, when Satan came to tempt Jesus to sin. It was right after John the Baptist baptized Jesus in the Jordan River.
Satan tried three different ways to get Jesus to sin, but in each case Jesus refused and answered Satan with a verse of the Bible—all out of the Old Testament book of Deuteronomy.
One thing we can learn from Jesus’ example is how important it is to learn and memorize the Bible. That’s why we have a memory verse every week. God promised that if we learn His Word, or hide it in our hearts, the Holy Spirit will bring it to our memory when we need it and help us to not sin against God.
Please remember to bring your decorated Thanksgiving bags Sunday, whether you have any food to bring or not. Our deacons will use our class’s bags to deliver food to needy families, and the decorations will help them think about Thanksgiving and being thankful to God for all His blessings.
See you Sunday—and don’t forget to bring a friend!
