Thanksgiving

This week we take time to say “Thank You!” to God for all the blessings He has given us. Every good and perfect gift, everything that we have, comes from God.

Our Bible story this week is about actually reading the Bible…it doesn’t do us any good for it to sit on a table or a shelf. We need to know what it says…and even more, we need to do what it says! God has given us the Bible so that we know how He has put us together and how to make the most of our lives.

Jesus learned the Bible as a child, along with the other Jewish boys of Nazareth. He did have a special advantage, since He was God’s Son, but the Bible tells us that He became like us in every way, so that He could show us how we could live. So He chose not to use his advantage, but learned the Scriptures the same way we do. Perhaps more important, He promised that the Holy Spirit that He sent to live in us would help us to have the same advantages that He had as Son of God. We are adopted as sons and daughters of God, and the Holy Spirit will enable us and help us to live just as Jesus did.

We are told that it takes repeating an action 21 times to form a habit. Why not promise to read the Bible each day for the next 21 days? You can use the Adventure magazine as a guide to help you read the Bible each day.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving! Take time to tell God some of the things you are especially thankful for. And remember to thank Him for the Bible.

Bring a friend with you Sunday!
