Leaving Egypt

Last week we learned about God’s call of Moses in the burning bush—and you all did a great job of telling the story! This week Moses reports for work—in the throne-room of the Pharaoh of Egypt! Moses said, as God told him to, “Let my people go!” But Pharaoh said, over and over, “No!” as terrible plague after plague hit the Egyptian people.

God was showing the Egyptians that He was more powerful than the Egyptian gods or even their Pharaoh, whom the Egyptians called a god as well. He was also showing the Israelites his mighty power, so that they would know they could trust Him.

God has all power, knows what is best for each of us, and, because He loves us, He wants to give us what is best. Just as the Israelites learned, we can learn that God will take care of us and that we can trust Him.

Don’t forget to bring your Thanksgiving bags this Sunday with food for needy families! And don’t forget to invite a friend!
